Microsoft Dynamics 4.0 CRM & VoIP

ip6000_bigPixel Power, my employer these past ten years, uses Microsoft Dynamics CRM. We don’t love it, but we need it and we really do use it. It’s taken a long time to get it worked into our corporate culture. We started with v2.0 and have since migrated to v3.0, with a further step to v4.0 coming in the next couple of months.

The move to v4.0 is really a good thing for multiple reasons. I’m told that integration with Outlook is much improved, including the ability to access CRM while offline. Also, v4 supports the Camrivox Flexor CTI plugin allowing integration with our OnSIP hosted IP-PBX.

T-Mobile’s Home Phone Reconsidered

OpenPeak's OpenTablet DeviceA short while ago T-Mobile announced their intention to offer a home phone device not unlike Verizon’s HUB offering. At the time I thought it might be derived from OpenPeak’s other product offerings, possibly the OpenTablet. OpenPeak is in process of opening their platform up to third party developers and creating an “app store” so that they can grow a widget ecosystem around the platform. But it’s not clear that Android is the operating system involved.

New TDM-GSM Module For Asterisk

A short while ago Nir Simionovich noted an interesting new piece of hardware on his blog. It’s the embodiment of a novel approach to adding GSM based cellular trunks to an Asterisk server. As opposed to a freestanding external SIP-to-GSM gateway that I installed last year, someone has devised a new TDM-GSM module that emulates that FXO daughter card on a Digium TDM400P card. According to the companies web site two modules can be installed to a TDM400P card, providing Asterisk with two GSM trunks. No drivers are required beyond those loaded for the TDM400P.
