Suddenly Siemens Gigaset popped up on my radar this week, on two fronts at once. To start with Alan Lord pointed out on a post to the Asterisk Users Mailing List that Siemens have released some new firmware that adds a mute functionality to one of the soft keys when on a call.
OK, so the past few days there’s been a lot of chatter about T-Mobile announcing that they intend to offer a new home phone device. It’s been noted variously at CrunchGear and NYT. From the description given, that is a tablet form factor and 7″ touch screen LCD, it would seem a logical conclusion that T-Mobile is likely tapping OpenPeak for their OpenTablet hardware.
David Frankel’s ZipDX is the topic of an article over at Telephony Online. VUC regulars have been able to enjoy the benefits of the ZipDX wideband conference bridge for the past couple of months. The company has offered up their conference bridge to users who have the necessary phones to join the call in G.722-based wideband.
This past weekend it happens that I spent a day at Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital. The why is a long story and not especially important for the moment. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the facility has an open guest Wifi network. That allowed me to do some work, blogging, etc while I was there.
A little later in the day we were moved to a room without a TV. Since we were going to be waiting a while I pulled out the Mini 2140 and logged into Hulu so that we could watch some TV. We watched last weeks episode of Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles.
