This blog was back then an effort to set down in one place the answers to questions that I was fielding in a variety of public forums online. It was in essence born out of frustration that the same set of questions kept returning, each time meeting with answers from a different group of respondents, and with some variability in the nature of the answers. So I wanted to simply document what I have done. My own experience working from a home office full time over the past 10+ years.
Of course, I started with a long list of things that I could address. When that ran out I started thinking of new projects to keep me covering new ground. I looked at various aspects of my home & office systems that caused us grief and then searched for better solutions. I keep learning by doing and that provides grist for the mill.
I especially love trying new hardware. I’ve been lucky in that I was able to afford some new gear. I often buy something myself and use it a good long while, documenting my experience with the device. However, once in a while I get offered a chance to sample something new, and that’s great as well. I have several new devices in-house at present and will continue to share my experience with them over the coming weeks and months. I hope to manage some focus on the unusual conjunction of SOHO telephony & home automation.
Finally, I am constantly amazed that people actually read this stuff. Even more so that some of you post comments. It’s immensely gratifying to know that others see some value in the effort. It’s also humbling. You have my thanks.
