Skype Responds To A Request For SIP Integration

mjgraves | January 21, 2008

After reading Dan York’s Disruptive Telephony Blog about Skype not seeing any demand for Skype interaction with SIP networks I made a point of logging just such a request via the support section of their web site. Here’s what I entered:

———————————————————————–
I have Skype and use it a lot. Many of my friends and associates use Gizmo, GoogleTalk, and FWD. It would be most ideal if Skype could interoperate with those SIP based neworks directly.
———————————————————————–

This morning Skype responded as follows:

Hello Michael,

Thank you for your suggestion! We will definitely look into.

However, implementing changes and creating new features can take some time which means that the suggestions you make today might not be available in the near future.

Please be patient while we are working on improving our service to be better and more user friendly.

We apologise for the delayed response. Your feedback is important to us and it is our goal to respond to all customer e-mails within 72 hours, however due to a recent increase in inquiries it has taken longer to respond to you.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Kind regards,

Tamara

Any bets on just how seriously they take such a request????
